Commissioned by author Sharon Clark, this enchanting children’s nature book takes young readers on a journey of transformation, discovery, and self-belief. The story follows a determined little caterpillar as it experiences the magic of growth, embracing its true potential to become a beautiful butterfly.
Unlike my usual vector-based illustrations, the artwork for this project was meticulously created and colored using Clip Studio Paint Pro, allowing for rich textures, smooth blending, and organic shading that enhance the book’s natural, immersive feel. Every wing, leaf, and landscape was carefully designed to reflect the delicate yet powerful transition from caterpillar to butterfly. One of the biggest challenges was illustrating metamorphosis in a way that felt magical yet scientifically accurate, balancing creativity with realism.
Beyond character design, I was responsible for shaping the cover, layout, and preparing print-ready files to ensure a seamless visual experience from start to finish. My proudest achievement in this project was capturing the awe-inspiring wonder of nature—turning a simple transformation into an inspiring adventure for young readers.
